Time Stalkers lacks necessity11607

Dave A from LI New York, USA says (21/Nov/2002):
Time stalkers is a extremely simple rpg. The storyline is average but what can you suspect from one of sega's debut dreamcast rpgs. The graphics are suitable for dreamcast, there are some minor drawback there though.. (flat faces, partially spikey models, ETC) The game doesn't take impossibly long to beat, that seems to be one of the huge drawbacks. You could easily play the game straight through without trying any side additions and probably max your time out well under 20 hours if that. It IS short. The sound is original, exactly what youd expect for this game. Some of the dungeon ambience songs are particularly cool, it suits the mood of the setting just right. There is very little to the control of the game, its all simplicity heaven. You can only control the camera in the dungeons and it has a super basic item system. Character system is basic, everything seems to be ok in that area. The monster capturing is very original, and the quests are definitely something to do. Like most DC games, this game features several little mini-games to be played a la VMU. (visual memory card) the only problem with this is that vmu batteries are super expensive, and they sure seem to run out fast. (Sega shouldve thought about this and made a way to play the mini-games on the tv with the controller) The game can defintely be fun for all those rpg-ers out there, patience is a virtue folks.. One thing i don't understand is the first time around beating it, I had only 2 or 3 out of maybe 20+ collection items. You can buy them, but theyre expensive and really have no effect except for that you can see the actual item in the collection room. All in all, the game is just flat out average. I'd buy the game on sale for something to do if you need a new regularized rpg to play. I'm a decently large rpg fan, and I'd say this game is exactly how I described it. But don't count on with my fingers, decide for yourself by playing it. Have fun!
